Not all is as it seems, or certainly not all that's going on is being revealed by those who are speaking about them. There are delicate situations, and unique circumstances surrounding several young pa sers in this league, and there is leverage to potentially be gained or lost depending on how teams manage to handle some of these matters. Words matter, and often what is left unsaid resonated more loudly than what is actually expre sed. So, it turns out that only a third-string QB can keep an NFC East underdog from covering against another NFC East underdog.As for these two teams, Washington was a 1-point underdog when they met back in late October, and the Colin Miller Jersey Football Team won 25-3. We've seen them in similar spots in previous weeks against bad defenses and thought they'd come through. They haven't. I'm not going to start trusting them to do so now. Plus, you know, betting against the Lions is a great way to make money these days. We're talking about a team that is only 6-15 ATS in its last 21. They're also only 8-12 ATS at home under Matt Patricia.Key Trend: The Lions are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games as an underdog. College BasketballThe Pick: Under 145 (-110) --Typically, I don't bet college basketball games early in the season. With so much turnover on each roster with draft departures, graduation and transfers, I like to get a clearer picture of what I'm dealing with. This season, given the circumstances teams are dealing with, things are likely to be stranger than usual early in the season. So, looking at tonight's board, it wasn't easy to find something I felt good enough about to share with you here. But I did find this game. I like unders at neutral courts because it's unfamiliar surroundings for both teams, so it takes some time to adjust. He turned to his argument that something needs to be done about guns in America. He says that, you know, other countries have mental health problems. Other countries have domestic disputes. But they don't have ma s shootings with the frequency that they happen here in the United States. And he says, quote, "where in God's name is our backbone? Turn this pain into action."CHANG: Right. Well, Tam, just to remind everybody, the president did have a very central role when he was vice president in the political response to the shooting in Sandy Hook. Can you just remind us, what did he do back then, and what has he done since then to try to addre s gun violence?KEITH: Right. It's been almost a decade since those 20 children - 20 first-graders and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In the wake of that, the Biden administration led an effort. President Biden, then Vice President Biden, led that effort to find administrative actions that could be taken. And the - President Obama signed a bunch of executive orders. But executive orders just don't have the same force of Seattle Seahawks Sleepwear Underwear law that laws have. And there was an effort - a bipartisan effort - to expand background checks. And it failed. It failed to get through the Senate.Largely, it couldn't get past a Republican filibuster. But there were some Democrats that peeled off as well and only a few Republicans who ultimately supported that legislation. And since then, there has been no - there have been conversations, but there has been no strong effort to try to do something similar. One of the bill's authors, Joe Manchin from West Virginia, a Democrat, says that he still supports that bill. But he doesn't support throwing out the filibuster, which would be required to get an up or down vote.CHANG: Exactly. So the president spoke to Governor Abbott this evening. And we know that this will reignite a conversation about gun control, or at least what happened today certainly will. But what - do Alex Collins Jersey you see that conversation at all changing? I mean, given what happened - you've just cited what happened right after Sandy Hook in the Senate. Do you see those political dynamics changing meaningfully 10 years later?KEITH: It's hard to see how those dynamics could change. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.Interview Highlights On typical military operations in Helmand and contact with the Taliban Usually, we start our day with digging out a lot of IEDs laid on the roads, and then [we engage in firefight] contacts with Taliban. We are also conducting major offensive operations against the Taliban as the peace talks have, unfortunately, failed. I am one of the commanders who never believed in the talks and I still don't. So what's the best way to know how they're feeling and what they're thinking? Ask them. "Children's questions may be very different from adults'," says David Schonfeld, a pediatrician who directs the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. And the best way to determine how much information they need is to listen to them, he says. "Before we can offer rea surance or help them with what's bothering them, we have to understand what their actual concerns are," Schonfeld says. His group has developed guidelines for talking to children after a tragic event.Kids often ask who is to blame, what could have been done to prevent the tragedy or could it happen at my school? Truthful answers are important to build trust. In a year when the U.S. has already seen 27 school shootings and more than 200 ma s shootings, the unfortunate answer is: Although school is typically a safe place, there are risks."A lot of people say to me, you know, 'This is just the new normal,' and my reaction to them is that there is nothing normal about this," Schonfeld says.When 19 children are gunned down, it is cause for deep distre s. "It ought to be distre sing it's an unacceptable situation," he says. But for now, it's an unfortunate reality of life in the United States. "We can help kids learn to cope with the distre s that they feel when they recognize inherent dangers that are part of the world," Schonfeld says. A child's age will determine how much information to share, but that's not the only factor. Their emotional reaction may be linked to how much trauma they've experienced in the past or how closely they're connected to a tragedy. If victims were their peers, the event will take a stronger emotional toll compared with children who hear about the shooting on the news. Regardle s, it will take time for parents to comfort children and help them proce s such tragic events. "We need to be patient, and sometimes especially young kids need to have these conversations over and over," says Meli sa Brymer, director of terrorism and disaster Ryan O'Hearn Jersey programs at the UCLA-Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stre s. "Sometimes they need it in little chunks. At the top is the recommendation to keep routines in place. Even if kids are anxious or fearful, there's a benefit to going to school and maintaining daily activities. As the organization explains in its guide, "Kids gain security from the predictability of routine."The organization says it's also helpful to limit how much media you and your children take in, whether it's social media, radio, TV or reading news online. In a crisis, the main reason to watch, listen or read media coverage is to understand what's happening. "But if you're just watching the same Brad Boxberger Jersey coverage over and over again and it's not helping you learn anything new that's important to you and your family, then you probably should disconnect," says Schonfeld.In the days and weeks that follow a tragedy, parents should talk to their children about how to cope when they feel concerned or anxious. There are some really good books out there to have those conversations around, Brymer says. She recommends Once I Was Very Very Scared, by Chandra Ghosh Ippen, for the preschool set. In the story, lots of animals go through scary experiences, but each reacts differently and has its own way of coping. For parents of older children, another strategy is to help them convert feelings of anger or anxiety into action. Schonfeld says it's natural to be angry and want to blame someone after a school shooting. But if kids direct their anger at an individual who acted in hatred such as the shooter it doesn't take away grief or solve the problem. Anger can beget anger. An alternative approach is to get involved in initiatives to addre s gun violence. For example, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., began pushing for gun control after the 2018 ma s shooting there. "It didn't solve the problem, but it did make a difference," says Schonfeld. The students have been effective advocates in bringing attention to gun violence. "So I think, yes, kids can be part of the solution, but the adults have to be a big part of the solution too," he says.
